Multi-sector mission down under

Explore the outstanding opportunities available in Australia and New Zealand by joining UKTI South West’s mission in September 2010.

Following on from a highly successful mission to Sydney and Melbourne in 2009, UK Trade & Investment South West is preparing to repeat that success with a second group of companies.

In October 2009, 23 companies from Southwest England visited Australia as part of the largest British trade delegation to Australia in over 10 years.

Sluggish global economic conditions did not deter the resilient British businesses from journeying to Australia's shores; in fact, it helped. Of course close links between Australian and British businesses are nothing new, the UK is the largest foreign investor in Australia and its fifth biggest trading partner, but of late Australia has risen even higher on the UK’s agenda.

This year the South West team already have 25 companies signed up and ready to go, but still has places for a few more. In September 2010 the group will start their visit in Sydney and then following a day of business meetings at the Consular Office in Sydney and a reception at the Consul Generals Residence, the companies will spread out across the length and breadth of this huge continent. David Winter, International Trade Adviser and Food and Drink Sector Specialist, will be accompanying a group to Sydney and then will take Food & Drink companies onto the Fine Food Show in Melbourne.

All of the companies taking part will have the full support of the UKTI team in the South West as well as support from the Consular offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.
